Greenville and Pitt County are located in the north central coastal plain region of Eastern North Carolina, approximately 85 miles east of Raleigh, the capital city of North Carolina.  Greenville is approximately 87 miles west of the Atlantic Ocean and approximately 265 miles south of our nation's capital, Washington, DC.

Greenville is the 13th largest city in the state and the home of East Carolina University!  Located halfway between the capital city of Raleigh and the crystal coast of the Atlantic Ocean, Greenville is the cultural, educational, medical, and economic center of Eastern North Carolina.  Whether you are looking to move here or are just here to visit, you will find that Greenville is a friendly and dynamic community with a lot to offer!
Pitt County Memorial Hospital, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the flagship hospital for University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina and serves as the teaching hospital for the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. Pitt Memorial is a regional resource for all levels of health services and information. The Brody School of Medicine at ECU is ranked fifth in the nation in rural medicine by U.S. News & World Report. The medical school is ranked sixth nationally among primary care medical schools by the magazine.
